This is my essential book for actuarial interviews. Since I have not worked as an actuary for an insurance company before, the book would guide you through the difference types of actuaries, different daily work style, etc. I would say that the 2 editions are fairly similar. The 2nd edition has some updates since there was a major syllabus change in 2007.
The book is a compilation of responses from surveys given to actuaries about their experience in the profession. I was expecting a more thorough exposition of the topics, especially the difference between the two branches.
This book really helped me understand what I needed to do in order to become an Actuary. The resources for exam section is marvelous. Also take a look at all of the companies at the end. This is a great way to start networking.
