I read this book and took the test and passed.The books is structured really well and covers everything you need to know. There are no grammatical errors and the authors write extremely well. In general I think they do a good job of explaining the material. There are, however, a few places where there are some mistakes. They need to get an errata going and fix those asap.Here was my biggest complaint: The sample questions and mock test that they provide you on the CD is in no way shape or form representative of the level of difficulty of the questions on the real test. I finished test one from the CD in about 45 minutes to an hour and scored about 90%. On the real test I needed every moment of the 2 1/2 hours and got a much lower score. Of course I still passed.Perhaps the kaplan tests are more realistic.
The book is nice and very useful if you need some preparation for OCA test, but some of the examples are not working. It seems like some of the examples has been done for Java 7 instead of Java 8.
As good as new.
The exam mock is well organized and the explanations to the topics are very clear.
I tried so hard to like the book, I just couldn't get into it. I think so much of the text was unnecessary. Too many repetitions that you tend to lose the main point.I couldn't even get through a few pages of it without falling asleep. The Sybex one seems more well written. I'm still waiting to read other people's comments and reviews.
