Great book. I owned the original edition of this book approximately 20 years ago. Great recipes throughout the book. Not found a stinker yet!
I've made several recipes so far and they have all been great. I'm not surprised as I love Maida Heatter's book of great desserts. The book arrived in excellent condition, much better than I had anticipated.
I've come to this page because my copy of "Great Chocolate Desserts" is falling apart from so much use & I need to replace it. I use it so much because I trust it completely. Every cookbook should be written like this one. Before each recipe Heatter describes the end product. Her instructions are incredibly thorough & easy to follow. She even gives advice on which brands of chocolate work best. And the results are terrific. I've earned the reputation of being a superb dessert-maker only because I rely so heavily on this book!
I received an original copy of this cookbook when I first got married. Baking has long been my passion. This cookbook does not disappoint. I have many good baking cookbooks, but this one is by far the best and most fail proof!Every recipe I have made has turned out well and the feedback I receive from people eating what I bake from this book is: When are you going to open your own bake shop? Truly, the recipes are that good. My favorites are her brownie recipes, but everything is great! If you buy this book, you will not be disappointed!

Maggie Waldron, who for years ran Maggie's Kitchen in San Francisco, also authored a number of excellent cookbooks, wrote extensively for cooking magazines, designed hundreds of recipes for food service clients and, in the capacity where I met her, was also a top-notch food stylist. One day on the set I asked her to recommend some cookbooks for my wife's collection.
